How would you like to have someone bring you a message from God? It would be pretty awesome right? Well, I'm sure a stern warning isn't what you had in mind. That is exactly what Israel got from Jeremiah. A very direct and strong warning from God that if they didn't shape up, He would do what was necessary to change their attitudes and behaviors. He'd done it before. So we know He means it! We can learn a lot from this warning to Israel.
Jeremiah 18:1-6 (NLT)
The LORD gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, “Go down to the potter’s shop, and I will speak to you there.” So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over. Then the LORD gave me this message: “O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand.
If I don't submit my will to His, He may choose to CRUSH me and start over working me again. The only one who can shape the clay is the potter and there is only room for one potter [God not me]. God will use me best when I submit my heart to His hands to shape and mold into a beautiful vessel He can use for His purpose.

I finished reading through Jeremiah a few months ago. I have never been happier to finish a book of the Bible! The msg Jeremiah had to bring for over 40 yrs of repent and turn back to God got to me after a while and I felt so sad reading it! No wonder they called him the wailing prophet.
