$90 Grocery Budget Challenge - Week 4

Can you believe I totally forgot to take pictures of the groceries again? Don't answer that if you know me in real life *cough*. Anyway, I got home late and Casey and I wanted to watch a library movie so I tossed all the cold items in the fridge and we sat down to watch "Dinosaur." Okay, so its probably not what most people would choose to watch on their Saturday night but I'd never seen it and it was free and it was pretty clean which equals a winning two hours of entertainment in my book!

What I was able to take a picture of this week is my exciting score at Goodwill of a $3.99 Brita water pitcher. I used to have one a few years ago but it broke (the pitcher cracked) and a brand new pitcher can be around $24 which means I saved about twenty bucks! So next week I'll pick up a filter.

I went to a whopping four stores to buy groceries this week! Normally I stick to my usual ALDI, HyVee, and Target visits but this week Price Chopper had some deals too good to pass up!

Price Chopper
  • 3 - 12 count large eggs @ .99 each (normally priced at 1.39 but on sale - limit 3) = 2.97
  • 3.54lbs ground beef @ 1.98/lb = 7.01 (I didn't even need more hamburger this week but I couldn't resist this price and wish I could've bought far more!)
Total spent (after .10 bag discount and tax) = $10.40

HyVee
  • 8oz bag of Daiya Cheddar Shreds 5.69
Total spent (after tax) = $5.99

Target
  • 3 pack Trident gum 2.39
  • 1 pack cilantro .99
  • 1 gallon whole milk 3.59
  • 1/2 gallon whole milk 1.99
  • 2 - 1/2 gallon Silk Almond milk @ 3.19 each = 6.38 (This is more expensive than the ALDI brand but my ALDI was completely out of their Almond milk so I had to pick it up at Target.)
  • 1 carton Breyers ice cream 3.25
Total spent (after .10 bag discount, 10% employee discount, 5% Redcard discount, and tax) = $14.41

ALDI

  • package of baby wipes .99
  • size 5 diapers 4.99
  • Pineapple .99 (each)
  • Lime .25 (each)
  • Lemon .25 (each)

A few nights this week Casey will be working late night shifts at his new job so we will be eating dinner without him. I don't know yet if he can take a dinner with him that can be re-heated or if he'll need to take sandwiches, etc... for his dinner so I don't have much planned for what he'll be eating. So for us, I have planned a few simple meals like the breakfast for dinner so I don't go crazy. ☺
